Tom Delonge is so damn serious it's impossible to not take him seriously. So when he says his band Angels & Airwaves is "going to have the best video we’ve ever had," with 'Hallucinations', then that's the way it is. Of course "best" is an objective state of mind.
Since the album Love was recorded on Delonge's ATM card, the band is taking a novel approach to everything involved, including the first music video. "We just go out and do it just like when we were skateboarding when we were teenagers. We’re laughing and sweating as we’re pushing cars, trying to make shit look cool."
"We went out and shot it with just the band members and two friends of ours with handheld cameras, no lighting at all. While three members are pushing a car in neutral, a guy is sitting in the back with his camera out the window, and I’m walking. It’s going to look like we had a giant production, but at the very end of the day we’ll probably spend just a few thousand bucks. It’s going to look like we spent 400 grand on this video. It boils down to, once again, if you have great people and just a few of the right tools, you do not need to spend any money."
"It’s so funny and so anti-rock star. It’s beautiful, absolutely beautiful."
Hey kids don't forget to download your free copy of the new Angels & Airwaves album 'Love' today. The one Tom Delonge calls "the pinnacle release of my life."
Tell your girlfriend this is what you got her for Valentine's Day. She'll love it.
It will be about one more year until we're hearing a new Blink-182 album, according to a new report that focuses on Tom DeLonge's Angels & Airwaves.
The article takes a look at the business model on AVA's upcoming free album 'Love', and concludes with a line on Blink: "Meanwhile, DeLonge says that Blink-182 is planning to record its new album soon and is talking with its label, Interscope, about a 2011 release. The group also intends to play European festival dates this summer."
On Valentines Day 2010 Angels & Airwaves will release their new album 'Love' as a present to all. But this last week the band fronted by Tom Delonge released the first single called 'Hallucinations'. And you can download that one from their website right now right here.
Angels & Airwaves guitarist Dave Kennedyrecently confirmed the band is hoping to release their next album in February 2010, and it will be available as a free download. (Good time to yell eff yeah out loud.)
In anticipation of that release a video has been posted to Tom DeLonge's YouTube account with some audio samples from the "bit more pissed off" record. Likely, the AVA album has been pushed back a few months due to Tom's commitment with Blink-182. He will be on tour with Blink until October. Tom, Mark and Travis have recorded at least one new song together for play on tour. Anyways, The AVA demos can be heard above. Check it out.
In case you are wondering if Angels & Airwaves is dying a slow death due to Blink-182 getting back together, they're not. In fact they are recording a new album right now and it might just be their bet one yet. At least that's what they've updated on their Facebook:
